Interface wavelike deposits after descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty.

چکیده
Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK) is a new treatment option for corneal endothelial dysfunction. Compared with penetrating keratoplasty, DSAEK is less invasive and leads to more rapid visual recovery. The most common complications after DSAEK described in the literature are graft detachment and/or dislocation, rejection, epithelial ingrowth, and pupillary block, all of which can lead to graft failure. Interface corneal deposits and/or debris have been described after laser in situ keratomileusis but have not been associated with DSAEK. In this case series, we describe 2 patients after DSAEK with the appearance of characteristic wavelike deposit accumulation at the donorrecipient interface in the immediate postoperative period.

Determinants of visual quality after endothelial keratoplasty.
Endothelial keratoplasty is now favored over full-thickness penetrating keratoplasty for corneal decompensation secondary to endothelial dysfunction. Although endothelial keratoplasty has evolved as surgeons strive to improve outcomes, fewer patients than expected achieve best corrected visual acuity of 20/20 despite healthy grafts and no ocular comorbidities. Reasons for this remain unclear, w...

Endothelial keratoplasty is at present the gold standard for surgical treatment of corneal endothelial pathologies not associated with significant corneal scar. Tremendous progress has been made in recent years in improving the technology of endothelial keratoplasty techniques, such as descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK) and descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty. ...

In our experience, the presence of donor stroma seems to degrade the optical quality of the transplanted cornea (as Descemet stripping endothelial keratoplasty/Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty grafts containing donor stroma ma...
